The Article ( आर्टीकल्स )
(a, an, the)
The three words - a, an and the - are also referred to as Articles. These three are part of a special category of the Demonstrative Adjectives.
a, an और the - इन तीनों शब्दों को आर्टीकल्स भी कहते हैं. ये तीनों संकेतवाचक विशेषण की एक विशेष श्रेणी में आते हैं.

The articles precede the noun and are generally the first adjective for that noun. ie if more than one adjective is used describe a noun, the article is used before any of other.
वाक्य में उपयोग करते समय, article को संज्ञा के पहले लगाया जाता है. यदि एक से अधिक विशेषण मौजूद हों तो article सबसे पहले आता है.

There are two type of articles - a (or an) and the. A (or an) is called Indefinite Article while the is the Definite Article.
Article दो प्रकार के होते हैं - a (या an) और the. इन्में से a(या an) indefinite article अनिश्चित आर्टिकल और the definite article निश्चित आर्टिकल हैं.

As a general rule - An article is used before every singular common noun except when the noun is used in a general sense.
यह एक आम नियम है कि वाक्य में एकवचन जातिवाचक संज्ञा के आगे एक article का उपयोग किया जाता है. आर्टिकल का उपयोग केवल उन संज्ञों के आगे नहीं किया जाता जिन्हें एक आम-अर्थ में किया गया हो.

for eg. उदाहरण
1. She is a girl.
2. I saw an aeroplane in the sky.
girl के पहले a, aeroplane के पहले an और sky के पहले the, इसी तरह आर्टिकल प्रयुक्त होते हैं.

There are occasions when no articles are used before the noun.
यहाँ ऐसे मौके भी हैं जब संज्ञा के पहले कोई आर्टिकल नहीं लगाया जाता है.

1. Man is mortal.
यहाँ man और mortal दोनों ही संज्ञाओं का प्रयोग एक आम अर्थ में किया गया है इसलिये आर्टिकल का उपयोग नहीं किया गया है.
